- Worldcoin announces World ID 2.0 integration with platforms such as Minecraft, Reddit and Shopify, improving authentication and fraud prevention.
- Expanding its reach, Worldcoin launches eye verification services in Mexico and Singapore, with nearly 5 million registered users globally.
Worldcoin, the cryptocurrency project co-founded by Sam Altman, has announced a significant and exciting expansion with its World ID, now integrating with leading platforms such as Minecraft, Reddit, Telegram, Shopify and Mercado Libre. This news comes on the heels of previous successful integrations with Okta’s Discord, Talent Protocol and Auth0, and marks a step forward in identity verification in the digital world.
Approximately four months ago, Worldcoin released its protocol to the public, which has recently been updated to World ID 2.0. According to the company, this new version makes it easier to distinguish between bots and “verified humans” online.
“It’s a much simpler way for developers to build integrations.”
Tiago Sada, Tools for Humanity product manager and Worldcoin lead contributor, explained in an interview with TechCrunch.

The new integrations will, for example, allow Reddit moderators to grant special permissions to users with World ID to ensure authenticity, or Shopify store owners to use World ID to prevent fraud or one-time promotions .
“This isn’t just about the first wave of apps, but about a new developer platform,” Sada added.
In addition, the company has created three different levels of authentication: “casual,” which involves downloading the Worldcoin app and creating a World ID without scanning irises; “standard,” which includes creating a profile and scanning irises with the company’s Orbs devices; and “high,” which adds facial recognition for added security.
Sada stressed that when creating a World ID, users do not need to provide their real name or ID. “You can use it completely anonymously; all you show is that you are unique. “ However, he acknowledged that the system is not foolproof, as a user can have one World ID per device until they opt to scan their iris with an Orb.
In terms of expansion, Worldcoin is expanding its operations in Mexico and Singapore, with plans to reach more countries in Asia.
“The goal is to have Orbs available in any country to register,” Sada said.
Multiple Levels of Verification for Increased Accessibility
Nearly five million people globally already possess a World ID, and more than 2.5 million have verified their humanity through an Orb. The new World ID 2.0 verification levels offer more options for users, from basic on-device verification to advanced verification with Orbs and facial recognition, providing security tailored to the needs of each application.
World ID Obtaining Process
Obtaining a World ID is simple. Users can download the World App, which is compatible with most iOS and Android smartphones. Initial verification with Device Auth provides a basic level of protection, while an Orb-verified World ID provides greater utility for apps or services that require higher levels of security and verification. To locate an Orb and complete verification, users can visit https://worldcoin.org/find-orb or use the World App.
With the launch of World ID 2.0, Worldcoin is setting a new standard in digital authentication, reinforcing the distinction between humans and automations in the online environment.
With this expansion and innovative integrations, Worldcoin is setting a new standard in digital identity verification, paving the way for a more secure and authenticated future in the digital world.
