  • VeChain has launched a new sustainability campaign with the United Nations geared towards promoting sustainability through the AWorld campaign.
  • Users can log their actions towards sustainability in the app and get rewarded, including standing a chance to win tickets to the Nitto ATP finals next year in Italy.

Want to play your part in pushing for global sustainability while also standing a chance to watch the Nitto ATP finals next year in Turin, Italy? Then, the VeChain challenge is for you. In partnership with the United Nations, the blockchain network wants to reward you for your daily sustainability actions

VeChain announced the new campaign on Tuesday and urged all interested participants to try it.

“We’ve just launched our Challenge Tournament in the AWorld app, the official platform in support of the United Nations ACTNOW sustainability campaign! We have some epic prizes for our eco-champions – are you ready to play?” the project tweeted.

AWorld is the UN’s official platform supporting ACTNOW, its campaign pushing for individual actions on climate change and sustainability. Partners include the University of Cambridge, the European Commission, BlackRock, Cognizant, Prada and now, VeChain. Participants are encouraged to measure their carbon footprint, learn about sustainability and take the most effective actions to fight climate change today.

All participants will receive an exclusive NFT, with one lucky winner receiving tickets to the 2024 Nitto ATP Finals, the tennis season-ending event for top-ranking players from each year. The event will be in November next year in Turin, Italy.

The top 8 players in the AWorld campaign will earn physical-digital tennis rackets, while the best team will have 625kg of ocean plastic removed in its honor.

To participate:

  • Download the AWorld app on the App Store or the Play Store and join the VeChain challenge.
  • Receive and activate your Nitto ATP Finals-themed NFTs on the app.
  • Start accruing points by recording all your sustainable actions. You can earn additional points by reading the content on the app and participating in the daily quizzes.

VeChain and Sustainability

VeChain has firmly cemented its position as the sustainability blockchain. Its partnership with the UN stretches back to January when the two announced they would work together towards the UN’s 17 sustainable development goals (SDGs).

VeChain focuses on building digital ecosystems for sustainability campaigns. These ecosystems allow for “interconnection, information sharing and collaboration,” all done on-chain. Beyond carbon footprint monitoring, VeChain is working on initiatives targeting supply chain systems, ensuring they promote ethical sourcing, improved health outcomes and financial empowerment.

“Sustainable development is not only about reducing carbon emissions or ensuring responsible reuse of resources but a holistic approach to raising the entirety of humanity equitably and ethically while ensuring the prosperity of our planetary ecosystem,” the project says.

VeChain’s token VET has surged in the past week, notching an 18% surge in that time to trade at $0.0218 at press time for a $1.58 billion market cap.
