  • VeChain is conducting a scheduled maintenance on the VeChainThor Wallet early next month.
  • Users can easily access the veworld.net version at no cost at that time.

The VeChain (VET) protocol is set to under-scheduled maintenance in order to correct some bugs that will further help enhance the usability of its systems. As announced by the VeChain blockchain through its official Twitter account, the maintenance will take place on the VeChain Thor Mobile Wallet on May 4th between 6 am to 6 pm (GMT).

As an ever-evolving system, blockchain protocols are subject to regular maintenance in order to update the code and correct some errors in existing code while also adding new functionalities as the case may be. Typically, maintenance can be done to correct the fraudulent activities of some malicious actors, in which case it will be targeted at reconfiguring different aspects including the firewalls.

Luckily, the VeChain protocol is one of the most secure blockchain networks around and it has not recorded any form of known security breaches or mishaps, as such, users do not need to worry about the core goals the maintenance. In a bid to help its community prepare even more, VeChain said users need to be aware that certain wallet functionality may be impacted for users of the iOS and Android Mobile apps.

While access to these two applications may be impacted during the maintenance period, VeChain wants users to switch to the alternative platform accessible via the web at veworld.net.

“If you need alternate access to your tokens in the meanwhile, please check out our Web Wallet, veworld.net!” the VeChain announcement reads, colored with an apology “for any inconvenience caused – we will bring services back online as quickly as possible. Your assets remain completely secure and unaffected during this time.

VeChain Maintenance: Embracing a Cheaper Alternative

One of the key features of blockchain technology is its low cost of transactions. Compared to legacy financial services providers, transaction costs can be as high as double digits of the amount being transacted.

These somewhat exploitative charges account for what has led many to the blockchain ecosystem. Notably, VeChain is one of the cheapest protocols in operation today and despite the unveiled maintenance, users can still access the additional value through the main web gateway to access the wallet services from the firm.

As announced earlier this month, the transaction fees on the web version of the wallet have been eliminated through the introduction of a new mechanism called “fee delegation.” While this fee delegation feature is set to benefit every transacting user on VeChain, it is specifically designed for the developers as they can access some of the core functions of the blockchain at no cost.

VeChain has continued to innovate in ways that have shown its core commitments to its community and the mission to drive Web3.0 services into the limelight. This scheduled upgrade, when completed will undoubtedly take it one step closer to its goals.
