While VeChain is known for its versatility, the utilization of its ToolChain protocol to track highly consumable fish brands like Tuna in a multi-billion dollar industry is rare. With the duo of Gustav Gerig and Raimond Frères leading this frontier, it showcases the possibility of this integration and in driving enhanced usability of blockchain tools to achieve sustainability.
The tracking of Tuna with VeChain has very deep significance for all stakeholders. First, it enables consumers to track the origin of their Tuna fish, figuring out whether they have been sustainably sourced or not. The knowledge that consumers can easily verify details about the supply chain process from the comfort of their homes and the ease afforded through mobile phones will help drive responsible management on the path of firms.
Secondly, the move is setting a very important precedent for companies operating in the supply chain management ecosystem to show that accurate use of blockchain systems to ensure transparency and efficiency is possible.
By leveraging VeChain’s solution, Gustav Gerig is enabling consumers to trace their tuna fish back to its origin, ensuring that it was ethically sourced and sustainably harvested [..] At a time when consumers are increasingly conscious of the impact their purchasing decisions have on the environment, initiatives like this play a crucial role in building trust and promoting responsible business practices. We are excited to see more companies follow Gustav Gerig’s lead in utilizing blockchain to drive positive change.
Rebranding the VeChain Tracking Tech
The integration of VeChain technology to track Tuna was rebranded by the partners involved in the process including Gustav Gerig and Raimond Frères. To track the Tuna fish using the VeChain blockchain, the users will need to scan a QR Code through which the information is embedded.
As revealed by Raimond Frères, the information that will be accessible through the QR Code include the type of fish, fishing area, fishing method, fishing period, place of processing, and details of the end product. With the user’s assessment of these details, they can decide whether the Tuna fish meets their own definition of a sustainable product or not. Gustav Gerig detailed.
With this innovation, Raimond Frères is reinforcing its pioneering role in the area of sustainably certified tinned fish and takes a user-friendly approach to provide customers with the maximum of transparency.
VeChain’s relevance now transcends energy and climate change sustainability drives, it now extends to the supply chain and even the Internet of Things (IoT) amongst others.
