- VeChain has joined the China Animal Health And Food Safety Alliance, sponsored by the Ministry of Agriculture of the People’s Republic of China, as a council member.
- The VeChain Foundation hopes to promote the use of VeChain ToolChain™ by its 130 members.
As announced yesterday via Twitter, the VeChain Foundation has joined the China Animal Health And Food Safety Alliance (CAFA) as a Council Member. As a result, VeChain is the only provider of public blockchain technology in the alliance and will provide technical and infrastructural support to the council members. The CAFA comprises 130 Chinese companies.
The members are huge companies and corporations from the upstream and downstream sectors of the food industry, including supermarkets, food and beverage manufacturers, e-commerce platforms, as well as players in CTI industry, research laboratories, agricultural and animal supplies. Members include the Chinese subsidiaries of Starbucks, McDonald’s and Walmart.
It is also noteworthy that CAFA is a government-supported organization that reports directly to the Chinese National Agricultural Science Technology Innovation Alliance initiated by the Ministry of Agriculture of the People’s Republic of China. The aim of the alliance is to establish a trustworthy platform that links the government, industry associations, manufacturing companies and research institutes in the food sector.
As stated in the official announcement of VeChain, VeChain, as a council member of CAFA, intends to “building a from-farm-to-table traceability system across the entire country”. To this end, the VeChain Foundation will make its VeChain ToolChain™ available to the members of CAFA:
By using VeChain ToolChain™, all enterprise members of the alliance will be capable of logging key processes of food products onto the blockchain in an immutable and secured way, bridging trust between consumers and the enterprises. Traceability can start from cultivation, processing, packaging, logistics, to retail and more, which perfectly assists CAFA’s vision of “providing consumers with safe, high-quality and healthy food of animal origin”.
According to the publication, VeChain has already brought on board the first alliance member as a user of VeChain ToolChain™ since CAFA was founded, “and more are expected to join”. Among other things, Walmart China already uses the ToolChain™ for its Food Traceability Platform and Foodgates. By joining CAFA as a council member, the VeChain Foundation hopes to reach hundreds of other companies without having to establish dedicated relationships individually:
Positioned as the enabler for the real economy, VeChain continues to promote exponential mass adoption of blockchain technology and drive tangible value for businesses. By powering traceability platforms for alliances such as CAFA and other similar partners, the VeChainThor blockchain would be used by hundreds and thousands of businesses without needing VeChain to approach them individually.
To make integration as easy as possible, VeChain ToolChain™ offers built-in, ready-to-use templates and customizable tools that enable any food company to quickly achieve full traceability of its supply chains throughout their entire lifecycle at a manageable cost.
