• A VeChain developer has introduced a new version of the SDK code, which can be used to integrate VET-based games into Windows.
• With the release a further interface will be developed, which will contribute to the adaptation of VeChain into the mainstream.

The developer “VeChain Dev” has introduced a new version of the VeChain Thor Devkit in .NetCore on GitHub, which allows to integrate VeChain into games on the Windows operating system. This is the third version 0.9 in beta of the development kit, which is written entirely in the C# programming language and opens a new interface for VeChain.

Developers can now use the toolkit to create VeChain Thor-based applications that run on Microsoft’s operating system. According to the analysis service statista.com, Windows has a worldwide market share of more than 77%, so this new interface between VeChain and Windows could promote the further adaptation and use of the VeChain Thor blockchain.

According to the description on GitHub, so-called non-fungible tokens are used, which have already been used in the past in similar VeChain based projects like 8Hours. The Real Items marketplace also relies on the VeChainThor blockchain and uses NFTs to provide each item with a blockchain transaction ID, timestamp, block number and other important data. The functionality could work similarly for games for Windows.

VeChain Adaptation in the Game Industry

At the end of last year, Microsoft, in cooperation with Eidos and Fabled Lands, launched a new blockchain card game based on the game book “Arena of Death” from the 1980s. It also uses NFTs, which represent assets within the game and are moved by the VeChainThor blockchain. Other prominent examples for the use of NFTs in the gaming sector are games like Gods Unchained or Neon Destrict.

The CEO and book author described that now is the right time to combine old cult games with the new blockchain technology:

It felt like the right time. We were going to relaunch the series into a computer game format but this new technology (blockchain), just made more sense. Imagine playing Magic the Gathering but knowing if you owned a card, it really does belong to you. Or if we say there are only 100 editions of an item or skill, you know there really are only 100 editions.

Thomson is enthusiastic about this new technology and explains that by using VeChain, the advantages of the technology can be used without having to deal intensively with the “whole techno-ram”.

VeChain’s adaptation continues to grow rapidly

VeChain will give the opening speech at one of the largest conferences in the world, the Artificial Intelligence Conference 2020 in Shanghai. This will be the first time that the keynote will be from the blockchain industry, marking an important step for the crypto and blockchain industry. Furthermore VeChain could recently win new partners like ArcelorMittal, one of the biggest steel companies in the world.
