  • The start-up company Digycode has integrated the cryptocurrency Tezos (XTZ) into its shopping service via gift cards and vouchers in more than 10,000 shops in France.
  • Digycode already offers support for purchasing items using Bitcoin, Ethereum and XRP.

Users in France now have a new option for buying the cryptocurrency Tezos. Through its integration with Digycode, users will be able to buy Tezos with vouchers, gift cards and digital cards at more than 10,000 points of sale such as gas stations, cigarette shops and mini markets. Digycode’s points of sale are located throughout France and its overseas territories.

Digycode integrates Tezos (XTZ)

The announcement of the integration of Tezos to Digycode was made on May 19th by the Toulouse Digital Service Group. Digycode co-founder Christopher Villegas stated that Tezos is one of the most promising projects in the crypto ecosystem. Villegas also added:

Integrating Tezos (XTZ) into our services is part of a larger strategy dedicated to this protocol, with its French accent. I would also like to thank Nomadic Labs, the research and development lab dedicated to the Tezos protocol. Our collaborative work with their technical support has allowed a quick integration to our services.

In addition to Tezos, Digycode allows users in France to acquire Bitcoin (BTC), XRP, Ethereum (ETH), Litecoin (LTC), among other cryptocurrencies. Users who wish to make a purchase, just log in to the Digycode website and register to open an account. At the time of registration, users have to go through a Know Your Customer (KYC) process and provide the required information.

After obtaining the account, the users are able to enter the code of the gift/digital card or voucher to obtain the cryptocurrency. Users can then move their funds to their wallet address of choice. To protect against money laundering and other illicit activities, Digycode claims that it can close accounts that show suspicious activity. In addition, there is a limit on the amount that users can purchase that ranges from $1,000 per day to $10,000 per month.

Tezos gains popularity in France

As reported by CNF, two French entities have shown interest in Tezos. The first is the French Army and the Information & Public Relations Center (SIRPA), specifically the Cybercrime Division. The security institution has been using Tezos’ blockchain since September 2019 to record the court costs incurred in their investigations.

In addition, the French Central Bank, the Banque de France, has expressed interest in using the Tezos protocol in its commercial and central offices due to the functionalities of zk-SNARKS. zk-SNARKs seems to have attracted the attention of the referred financial institution.
