Trust Wallet, one of the industry’s most popular non-custodial wallets, has been awarded international certification on account of its security and privacy protections. The International Organization for Standardization, which awards the certificates, is globally recognized as the authority on determining best-in-class standards. Trust, which provides non-custodial support for blockchains such as Ethereum, Bitcoin, Polkadot, and Cosmos, is now the holder of ISO 27001 and ISO 27701.

Trust Gains a Pair of Certificates

Picking a web3 wallet isn’t easy. The sheer number of wallets now available, covering mobile, desktop, and web browser, is dizzying, as are the benchmarks by which to judge them. Having become the first web3 wallet to gain ISO certification, Trust can fairly claim to be one of the best products of its kind, at least when measured for security and privacy protection.

All non-custodial wallets ought to be highly secure by default provided the user has safely stored the seed phrase and maintains best practice when operating the wallet, such as avoiding phishing sites. However, some wallet developers go above and beyond to add additional security protections. For example, Trust supports encrypted cloud backups of its wallet and also provides an alert before the user makes a risky transaction, such as sending funds to a known hacker’s address. 

From a privacy perspective, Trust Wallet also excels, which accounts for the second of the two ISO certificates it’s landed. For one thing, Trust conducts no personal tracking, stating that it doesn’t even collect the IP address of its users, nor does it retain details of their wallet balance or onchain activities.

Having been independently audited by no fewer than four cybersecurity auditors, Trust can fairly claim to be one of the most robust non-custodial wallets of its kind. It is the work of a fifth such auditor, A-LIGN, however, that has secured its ISO awards.

A-LIGN Doles Out Dual Certificates

A-LIGN is a cybersecurity auditor that helps tech companies achieve compliance with all requisite industry standards. Just as importantly, it has the authority to award ISO certificates to companies that warrant these. Founded in 1947 and headquartered in Geneva, ISO aims to facilitate international trade by providing common standards that ensure the quality, safety, efficiency, and interoperability of products.

Compliance with ISO standards is often considered a mark of quality and can provide a competitive advantage in the global marketplace. It’s uncommon for web3 companies to hold ISO certificates, although in the last 12 months, a handful have secured this achievement. For now, though, Trust is the only web3 wallet to have done so, and is justifiably proud of the brace of ISO certificates it bears.
