The Dogecoin Foundation has announced that it is coming back to life once again! As a result, it will be taking control of the Dogecoin Core Wallet project.

The Dogecoin Foundation is a nonprofit organization willing to support the development of the meme coin through advocacy, trademark protection, and governance. Originally launched in 2014, the foundation had become inactive over time.

But looking at the current craze around Dogecoin, the Foundation seeks to expand the scope of the Dogecoin ecosystem. Besides, it aims to make it easy for outside organizations to use its technology. In an official statement, the Dogecoin Foundation stated:

We believe that the success of Dogecoin is through broad global adoption and utility, and intend to focus on projects that increase Dogecoin uptake at a grassroots level. The Foundation holds the Dogecoin mark and the Dogecoin Logo and will maintain them for the community.

The Dogecoin Foundation is onboarding some of the top brass from the industry to the Dogecoin Advisory Board. One of the big personalities joining is the Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin who will serve as the foundation’s “blockchain and crypto adviser”. Further on the Advisory Board is Dogecoin’s ardent supporter and billionaire Elon Musk.

Well, this gives a big boost to the credibility of the Foundation, and will further encourage more big players to join.

Dogecoin securing budget with more players in the pipeline

As the foundation looks ahead to expand the Dogecoin ecosystem, the advisory board also set a three-year budget. This will be used for hiring a small staff that can work full-time on Dogecoin development.

As a result, the Dogecoin Foundation is working on a budget. Also, several top personalities have expressed interest in contributing to the Dogecoin community. With this, the Dogecoin foundation will be undertaking major projects. The announcement reads:

In coming weeks, the Dogecoin Foundation will be announcing new projects that will complement the current Core Wallet to enable faster integration and easier APIs (application programming interfaces) for financial, social and charitable projects wishing to use dogecoin.

The group has also put together a Dogecoin manifesto. It includes a collection of four statements that will help guide the enthusiastic crypto community. The foundation has set the motto of “Do Only Good Everyday.”

The Dogecoin manifesto is also the reason behind forming the advisory board. The Dogecoin Foundation noted:

We have been thinking about what Dogecoin means: as a technical project and as a movement for good in the world. We’ve condensed it down to four statements that we are calling the Dogecoin Manifesto. Two are technically-focused and two are social.

Dogecoin has been one of the top-performing cryptocurrencies in 2021. With its massive rally, the meme cryptocurrency has also cemented its position in the top ten crypto list. At press time, Dogecoin is trading at $0.29 with a market cap of $38.6 billion.
