  • Aumenta Solutions and Jelurida have partnered to bolster port maintenance opportunities.
  • This new ecosystem and industry drive showcases the versatility of blockchain systems.

The push to deploy blockchain-based solutions for real-world utility is currently being driven by a partnership between Swiss software outfit Jelurida, MSI, and Aumenta Solutions. According to a Press Release shared with Crypto-News Flash, the trio is looking at revolutionizing the port maintenance industry using a combination of blockchain technology and Augmented Reality (AR).

The new solution is based on a system designed by the TECNIO Centre EASY research group from the University of Girona and Aumenta Solutions. This solution was birthed when the duo participated in an INNOTEC project that lead to the development of the blockchain-backed real-time maintenance system.

With global commerce growing at a very sporadic rate, the load on ports around the world is growing at a significant rate. In reality, ships and cargoes going through ports are maintained in order to guarantee an efficient supply chain and this maintenance industry was worth a valuation of $148.1 billion as far back as 2020. Based on a Compound Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) of 4.9 percent, the industry is projected to be worth as much as $243.1 billion by 2030.

Riding on this projection, there is bound to be an increase in the demand for maintenance services at ports, and the more efficiently this maintenance can be done, the better it will be for the whole industry.

This is where the blockchain and AR-backed maintenance solution from Jelurida and its partners comes into play. The solution will enable maintenance workers to access digital information, including schematics and maintenance manuals, while on-site and allows for the certification of user tasks. This certification of tasks will be carried out using the Ardor Blockchain which was designed and maintained by Jelurida.

Key benefits of the Jelurida and Aumenta Solutions

Manual recording of the key aspects of port maintenance can be very time-consuming and the Aumenta and Jelurida solution will cut back this time and introduce a whole new level of efficiency across the board.

The capital-intensive maintenance processes can also be reduced using the new solution as the total cost of manpower can further be cut down.

“The use of AR technology is a game-changer for maintenance in the port construction and asset management industry,” said Francisco Sarrias from Jelurida Swiss SA, “It allows maintenance workers to access real-time digital information, improving efficiency and reducing downtime. We are excited to introduce this new technology to the industry and help drive innovation in maintenance processes.”

It is not uncommon to find blockchain technologies deployed to advanced technological settings. VeChain for instance is deployed in many industries including the supply chain ecosystem as well as the Internet of Things (IoT) ecosystem.
