  • Sui Network has launched a new feature dubbed zkLogin for a seamless Web3.0 onboarding experience.
  • Sui Network is trying to break the barriers to the adoption of Decentralized Applications (DApps.

Popular Layer-1 blockchain Sui Network has introduced a more simplified approach for Web3.0 onboarding. The network announced the launch of zkLogin (Zero Knowledge login), an authentication tool that permits users to sign up for Sui-powered Decentralized Applications (DApps) without having to manage an external crypto wallet or seed phrase. As always, this marks a significant milestone for the Sui Foundation.

Per the release, users would be able to log into these DApps by leveraging their Google, Facebook, and Twitch login details via the new zkLogin feature. Future plans for the solution include similar integrations with Microsoft, Apple, WeChat, and Amazon. The zkLogin leverages a combination of zk-SNARKs and JSON Web Tokens. Consequently, users also stand a chance to benefit from the privacy and ownership-preserving features of blockchain-based applications without having to make sacrifices on security.

“By enabling users to access dApps with the social logins they have grown comfortable using, zkLogin removes a major hurdle for bringing the benefits of blockchain-based applications to billions of mainstream users,” Sui Foundation Managing Director Greg Siourouni said.

He added that he is looking forward to seeing what the talented builders and developers in the Sui community will create using this new network capability.

Sui Network is Breaking the Pain of Onboarding Web3.0 Users

Before now, onboarding has been a pain point for the blockchain industry with both new and experienced users complaining about many usability issues. Some of the concerns that have been raised surround the need to sign transactions, maintain seed phrases as well as provide long strings of incomprehensible information to use certain DApps.

These concerns progressed to a point that Adeniyi Abiodun, the co-founder and CPO of Mysten Labs, the Sui Network developer took note of them. Abiodun highlighted that too many individuals whose everyday lives would benefit from blockchain technologies are irretrievably stuck at a point, frustrated at installing Web3 wallets and managing seed phrases.

The coming of zkLogin helps to remove these barriers and onboard a billion new users into the next generation of connected experiences, a feat the Mysten Labs co-founder noted is a remarkable opportunity. Usually, zero-knowledge proof technology allows one party to prove the truth of a certain assertion without revealing any information beyond the simple fact that the assertion is in fact true.

Noteworthy, Sui Network is not the only protocol trying to break down the barrier for Web3.0 adoption. In July, MOXY rebranded its esports platform where players can bet against each other and earn cryptocurrencies as rewards. The platform also launched three key products including its native token sale and Battle of the Influencers. Prior to this, MOXY has been making attempts to onboard gamers but it has not been without its challenges.
