  • Google Cloud and Polygon partner to foster growth in the Web3 ecosystem, with a new protocol integration that supports network developers.
  • Google Cloud is diving into the Web3 market with both feet, as it increases the number of startups being added to its ongoing Web3 program.

Polygon is strengthening its commitment to pioneering the growth of the Web3 ecosystem, with a new partnership that seeks to advance the pace at which developers create Web3 products.

As the Web3 industry expands following a rise in adoption from key figures, Polygon is tapping some of the biggest players in the industry to aid in the advancement of the Web3 ecosystem.

In the new partnership with Google Cloud, both platforms seek to bring ease to the development process of Web3 products and decentralized applications (dApps) on the Polygon network.

Representatives of Google Cloud expanded on details of the partnership at Consensus, a gathering focused on bringing members of the cryptocurrency, blockchain, and Web3 communities together.

According to a statement issued by Google Cloud at Consensus 2023, developers can now look forward to building on Google Cloud’s Blockchain Node Engine, which will be introduced to the Polygon network. Developers will also be in charge of where nodes are deployed to.

Using Blockchain Node Engine, Polygon developers can cut down on node operations

Blockchain Node Engine is a fully managed node-hosting service designed to reduce the need for node operations. Google Cloud introduced the protocol back in October of 2022. Using the protocol, Web3 firms that need dedicated nodes can deploy smart contracts, relay transactions, read or write reliable blockchain data and carry out a lot of other activities.

According to Ryan Wyatt, the President of Polygon, the recent partnership is geared towards boosting transaction throughput, amongst other things. In the long run, the adoption of blockchain technology through Polygon will be accelerated.

Today’s announcement with Google Cloud aims to increase transaction throughput enabling use cases in gaming, supply chain management, and DeFi. This will pave the way for even more businesses to embrace blockchain technology through Polygon.

Similarly, Mitesh Agarwal, the managing director, of customer engineering and Web3 go-to-market, Asia Pacific of Google Cloud, gave insight into Google Cloud’s long-term goals. Mitesh Agarwal explained;

Google Cloud is helping the industry achieve escape velocity by directing our engineering efforts toward areas like improving data availability and enhancing the resilience and performance of scaling protocols like zero-knowledge proofs.

This is not the first time that Google Cloud is dipping its feet into the Web3 market. In November 2022, Google Cloud struck a major partnership with Coinbase.

According to Google Cloud, the partnership was a long-term strategic. It was geared towards growing the Web3 ecosystem as well as its developers. More recently, Google Cloud partnered with Nansen, a blockchain analytics firm, to include 11 startups in its ongoing Web3 program.
