Karnataka, which has a history of leading in technology and innovation, is now heavily investing in the potential of blockchain technology.

On their official Twitter page, Polygon has announced the implementation of LegitDoc, a blockchain-based certification system, by KSDC, an organization under the Government of Karnataka, a state in India, on the Polygon Blockchain. This marks the first time the government of Karnataka has publicly implemented a blockchain.KSDC is a body under Karnataka’s Skill Development, Entrepreneurship, and Livelihood Department.

One of the primary uses of LegitDoc is to develop a new certificate issuance system that prevents any unauthorized changes for the KSDC graduates. This will enable the graduates to get tamper-proof certificates. Additionally, to verify the authenticity of these certificates, the LegitDoc Verifier DApp on the Polygon network can quickly check the certificates for any tampering or alteration.

The new system is a huge relief for the close to one hundred thousand students who graduate from KSDC annually. This is because it offers automated verification of their certificates, a preferred feature by employers in the state.KSDC has successfully issued a few hundred certificates on Polygon during the experimental stage and is planning to expand the system throughout the state in the near future.

Through the pilot phase, KSDC granted digital certificates to 180 individuals who completed the training. The organization intends to distribute approximately 30,000 digital certificates for the current year.

As part of this project, there will be a centralized module for student placement that works in conjunction with the Government Tool Room & Training Centre (GTTC) primary placement cell, streamlining the process for industries to request interviews with students. This move makes KSDC one of the few institutions that have adopted the LegitDoc-Polygon-based certification system, along with respected authorities such as the Maharashtra State Board of Skill Development and the Gadchiroli district Administration of the Government of Maharashtra.
