  • Polkadot-based gaming protocol Ajuna Network has introduced its asynchronous backing engine.
  • This upgrade is set to boost the protocol’s speed time and user experience.

Ajuna Network, a decentralized gaming platform built on Polkadot’s parachain, recently implemented asynchronous backing, slashing its block time in half. This development translates to improved User experience (UX) for gamers on the platform.

Ajuna Network Comes To Speed

Previously, Ajuna’s block time sat at 12 seconds. However, with asynchronous backing, that number has been cut down to 6 seconds. This reduction in block time means faster finality for transactions. To provide context, gamers can now enjoy quicker confirmations and smoother gameplay.

The road to achieving this feat was not entirely smooth. Ajuna revealed its team initially encountered challenges while testing the asynchronous backing upgrade on their Rococo Parachain in November 2023. Recognizing the need for a more robust testing infrastructure, they undertook a major code refactoring project.

Specifically, repositories for Ajuna, Bajun, and Solo were split for better organization. Try-runtime was also integrated to allow for streamlined testing of upgrades. Additionally, Zombienet was set up with production state cloning, providing a more realistic testing environment.

As a result of these improvements, Ajuna’s team felt confident enough to deploy Asynch backing on the mainnet. Ajuna Network acknowledged the Polkadot and ParityTech communities for their support, admitting that the integration would not have been possible without their tools. With asynchronous backing now live, Ajuna Network is set to deliver a faster and more rewarding experience for its gaming community.

Faster block times mean gamers can earn AJUN rewards at twice the speed. This Network invites Bajun users to its event this Friday, promising an exciting gaming experience with the newfound speed boost.

Ajuna Network is a decentralized gaming platform based in Switzerland that integrates gaming features with Unreal and Unity. Based on Substrate, Ajuna utilizes the entire Polkadot ecosystem to provide developers with a customizable toolkit for their blockchain games. In the end, Ajuna hopes to establish an interoperable, decentralized gaming ecosystem that facilitates the exchange of virtual goods.

What’s In for Polkadot

While Polkadot has had quite a challenging year, it plays an important role in connecting different blockchains. Polkadot introduced more than 20 parachains to its ecosystem, including projects like Ajuna Network in March 2023. According to a prior report by Crypto News Flash, these new parachains are important for Polkadot’s price action. This is based on anticipations that increased activity will drive demand, thus boosting Polkadot’s value for its investors.

Echoing earlier coverage by Crypto News Flash, Snowbridge, an initiative brought forward by the Snowfork team, is currently live on Polkadot. Snowbridge offers a trustless model whose security structure relies on signatures from first-party Polkadot validators.

At press time, DOT, the native digital asset of Polkadot, is trading at $5.93, down by 4.7% in the past 24 hours. However, the trading volume increased by 77.4% to $282 million, while the market cap is pegged at $8.5 billion. As the ultimate beneficiary of advances on Polkadot, DOT might soon print a rebound in the short term.
