  • The lead developer for Solana has opened up about his thoughts on Solana’s future and what he expects from the network in the long term.
  • Armani Ferrante also makes a strong case for new technologies like NFTs and automated market makers (AMMs), and their long-term potential.

Armani Ferrante, a lead Solana network developer, has bared it all out in a recent podcast interview with Blockworks. The Solana network developer is not only positive that Solana’s future is significantly brighter and better than the previous years, but he is also convinced that new emerging technologies like NFTs, have room to continuously grow and outperform their existing competitors in the long term.

Ferrante, who is the brain behind Mad Lads NFT collection and Backpack wallet, spoke on product market fits for Solana, explaining that it is impossible to choose a product-market fit.

Referencing Solana, Ferrante explained that Product market fit locates products, not the other way around. “That, very much, is what happened with NFTs [on Solana]” he asserted.

Going forward, the developer detailed his views on market critics, as he spoke rather positively, on what could become of the Solana network. He noted that market players skeptical about innovations might be taken aback by what the future holds for the industry. He stressed the fact the Solana network has already recorded significant growth and improvement in different sectors.

The Solana lead developer speaks on rival blockchain networks

Not only is the developer extremely optimistic about Solana, but he’s also looking forward to a rebirth and a resurgence in the energy being put into the development of the entire network. Praising the network even more, Ferrante referred to Solana as a network with “superpower” abilities.

I just have to have a smart contract and a Helio subscription. That’s it. That’s all I need. And I can build applications that transfer billions of dollars all around the world permissionlessly, verifiably. That is incredible.

Like many others, Ferrante was largely opposed to new technologies like NFTs, making their way into the industry. After backpedaling on his criticism towards these innovations, the Solana developer now wants skeptics to be more receptive towards new technologies.

“I saw it with NFTs,” he remarked, explaining that he initially chose to pass up on the technology. “I’m not getting involved with this. This is so dumb. It’s very easy to have a knee-jerk reaction,” was his first thought, after stumbling on the automated market makers (AMMs) and Non-Fungible Tokens.

It’s easy to write it off, but it turns out, a lot of these things that are imperfect at the time end up being really good ideas. I’ve seen it time and time again with ideas in crypto.

In response to being asked about Solana’s performance against rival networks like Ethereum and Cosmos, Ferrante attempts to put the comparisons to rest, stating that competition is for losers and that the industry should be focusing all of its energy on growing on the pie, instead of “trying to kill our competitors.”
