  • Rick McCracken, the Senior Program Officer (SPO) at Digi StakePool has recently outlined the details of the latest Cardano Senior Program Officer (SPO) call.
  • IOG has made an official response to the recent SEC filings.

Taking to Twitter, Rick McCracken, the Senior Program Officer (SPO) at Digi StakePool, shared notes from the recently held Cardano Senior Program Officer (SPO) call that took place yesterday.

The tweet details the update for the different note versions, while advising network developers on the specific preview testnet to run in the meantime.

All Senior Program Officers (SPO) are advised to make a major upgrade to the node version on a new mainnet. However, only one relay is allowed to run.

“Notes from Cardano SPO Call today: Update for node versions: Encourage SPOs to upgrade to node version 8.0.0 on mainnet. Only run 1 relay in P2P, other in manual or topology updater. Only run 8.1.1 on preview testnet for now, not mainnet.” Rick McCracken explained in a tweet.

McCracken also updated the community on Mithril, a research project designed to provide Stake-based Threshold Multisignatures on top of the Cardano Network. Mithril, the stake-based signature scheme also improves the speed and efficiency of syncing times for nodes joining the Cardano network.

IOG speaks on the recent SEC filings

According to McCracken, Mithril is already rounding up testing. In the near-term, the community can look forward to the long-waited mainnet launch of Mithril. Community members are advised to join the Discord to partake in coursing the launch of the protocol, as well as testing and feedback.

“Update on Mithril: Mithril is in final stages and testing and getting ready for Mainnet launch. Join the Discord to coordinate the launch of the protocol and testing and feedback.” The tweet read.

Lastly, the Senior Program Officer gave a brief update on the governance. He noted that the Concept of Delegate Representatives (dReps) will no longer need to reveal their identity. Additionally, the amount of saturation on the number of delegations that a DRep can receive will no longer be limited.

Update on governance : DREPs have the ability to remain anonymous, no saturation cap on the amount of delegation a DRep can receive.” His tweet read.

Notably, dReps have the ability to carry out voting on a large number of proposals within Project Catalyst. Concept of Delegate Representatives (dReps) can also enhance the quality of decision making within each Fund.

With respect to the recent SEC filings, IOG has maintained that although blockchain is transparent, and immutable, regularity is still necessary.

“It needs regulation that recognizes those values and understands the role blockchain can play in a modern world. Good regulation protects users and provides a sensible legal framework in which people can operate. IOG will always advocate for regulation that makes sense and honors the transparent and decentralized nature of blockchain.” IOG stated in a recent blogpost.
