  • IOTA has integrated LayerZero’s cross-chain messaging protocol with its Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM), enabling seamless communication and asset transfers across over 50 DLTs.
  • This integration further underscores IOTA’s commitment to fostering a developer-centric environment, bridging its ecosystem with the broader blockchain community.

In a significant development for interoperability, IOTA has announced the integration of the LayerZero cross-chain messaging protocol with its Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM). LayerZero, a leader in facilitating seamless communication across various blockchain networks, has extended its messaging infrastructure to IOTA EVM following its integration with the Shimmer network at the end of 2023.

This integration deploys LayerZero’s immutable V2 Endpoint on IOTA EVM, enabling developers to create omnichain applications. They can now utilize cross-chain messaging and asset transfers via the LayerZero protocol, incorporating the OFT and ONFT standards.

Additionally, the LayerZero V2 protocol allows for seamless and permissionless interaction with over 50 distributed ledger technologies (DLTs) currently supported by IOTA EVM.

Tapping New Growth Opportunities

This integration underscores IOTA’s commitment to fostering a developer-centric environment, bridging the gap between innovators within the IOTA ecosystem and the broader blockchain community. LayerZero V2 not only enhances IOTA’s technological capabilities but also reinforces its position as a hub for cutting-edge decentralized applications (dApps) and DeFi solutions.

By enabling developers to explore new cross-chain collaboration opportunities, the seamless communication and asset transfer facilitated by LayerZero’s V2 protocol pave the way for significant growth. This initiative supports a more interconnected blockchain ecosystem, propelling the expansion of dApps, yield opportunities, and various projects within IOTA’s ever-evolving ecosystem.

With the interoperability provided by LayerZero, IOTA is also advancing towards a more integrated and interoperable Web3 landscape. This will further benefit a diverse user base and developer community.

IOTA EVM Is Gearing Up to Launch In June

The IOTA community is eagerly anticipating the upcoming launch of the IOTA Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) set for June, per the Crypto News Flash report. In preparation, the IOTA Foundation has enlisted the expertise of Zokyo, a prominent security auditing firm, to perform a thorough audit of the IOTA Smart Contracts (ISC) in March 2024.

Zokyo’s audit aimed to identify potential security vulnerabilities while also assessing the business logic and technical risks associated with the contracts. The comprehensive audit process included a detailed examination to ensure that the IOTA Smart Contracts Protocol adheres to best practices in code readability, is protected against recent vulnerabilities, and employs secure methods to prevent reentrancy attacks.
