  • An initiative of the state government of North Rhine-Westphalia awarded the company senseering GmbH, which is based on the IOTA Tangle, as start-up of the month.
  • As the IOTA Foundation announced, the IOTA Hornet Node is now part of the Amazon Web Services (AWS) marketplace.

The Aachen-based company senseering GmbH, which also relies on the IOTA Tangle technology as part of the MyDataEconomy platform, was awarded the start-up of the month July title by the “Digital Economy NRW” (DWNRW) initiative of the German federal state of North Rhine-Westphalia. As the DWNRW also announced, the 12 finalists have now been determined and will compete for prize money of 50,000 Euros on September 2nd.

The Digital Economy NRW is an initiative of the state government of North Rhine-Westphalia to establish the federal state as a digital location. In the future, the state intends to provide increased support for digital start-ups and spin-offs, thereby increasing the attractiveness of digital start-ups and spin-offs and building a nationally and internationally outstanding start-up scene.

Senseering GmbH has developed the MyDataEconomy platform, for which it has now also received an award, for B2x customers for real-time condition monitoring of industrial plants and intelligent devices. Based on this, AI analyses, such as predictive maintenance, trading and exchange of technical data can take place. Via a subscription model, platform participants can also obtain worldwide access to selected and released data, thus closing their own data gaps.

The IOTA Tangle forms a technical basis. As a distributed ledger technology, it ensures data integrity, data sovereignty and counterfeit protection in the background and enables scalable use with the fee-less transactions.

As reported by CNF, the Industrial IOTA Lab Aachen, a joint project of the Laboratory for Machine Tools and Industrial Management WZL of RWTH Aachen University and senseering GmbH, which uses the MyDataEconomy platform, welcomed its first pilot customers within a closed alpha phase in June. Among the first pilot customers were Fraunhofer IPT, WBA GmbH, ACAM GmbH, TPU Plus GmbH, SPAICER and 5G-Industry Campus Europe.

IOTA Hornet Node is now part of the AWS marketplace

Another good news for the IOTA community was delivered yesterday by the IOTA Foundation itself. As the foundation announced, the IOTA Hornet node is now part of the Amazon Web Services (AWS) marketplace. Thus, it is now even easier to set up and operate a lightweight node. Amazon’s price is 0.046 USD per hour. If you pay in advance for more than 12 months, the price can be reduced to 0.03 USD to 0.02 USD per hour.

According to a community member, Digital Ocean also offers the IOTA Hornet node. However, there was not only positive feedback within the Twitter community. As some users remarked, it is “not a good thing” if a project that wants to decentralize the world relies on a monopoly, Amazon.

Moreover, as another user explained, there are cheaper alternatives. A Virtual Private Server (VPS) of an internet hosting service for 4.99 EUR and one line of code is enough thanks to the “Hornet Playbook” from Nuriell77 on GitHub.
