- An IOTA developer has presented a first draft of a software solution yesterday that allows game developers to integrate IOTA payments into any popular video game.
- The payment system can be used on all platforms including iOS, Android, Windows, WebApp, Xbox and Playstation 4.
Yesterday a developer of the IOTA community presented an initially rudimentary software via Twitter, which is supposed to make it possible to pay with IOTA in all popular video games or apps. Game developers will be able to use the software to enable gamers to pay for in-game content via IOTA.
Developer Marlon Morales explained that the payment system works on all platforms that support Unity, a cross-platform game engine for developing video games. Thus, the system can be used on all platforms, including iOS, Android, Windows, WebApp, Xbox and Playstation 4. Currently, the software supports the rudimentary functions of sending, viewing balance, and saving unused addresses, as Morales explained in his tweet:
I did it. IOTA implemented as paymentsystem for ANY game or app. It could work on all Unity supported platforms: Android, IOS, MacBook, Windows, WebApp, Playstation 4, Xbox and more.

In the tweet, Morales also showed a short video showing his IOTA wallet and a transaction from it. The user interface is still very rudimentary. But Morales plans to work on the design as well as on a game. There shall also be a chat function later:
Now I will work on the design. And than the game. There will be possible to play against each other and also get IOTAs for free for the IOTA newbes. I will also go for a Chat. Later we will have some streaming services over IOTA

Morales also explained via Twitter that he sees the project as a collaborative project. In a subsequent tweet, he explained that the goal of his software is to give free access to anyone who wants to implement the payment system in their games.
Dominik Schiener praises the development
The development did not go unnoticed by IOTA co-founder Dominik Schiener. Schiener praised Morales’ development as “really good work”. Other members of the IOTA community also expressed their support and encouraged the developer to pursue the idea as well.
Blockchain gaming is certainly one of the most exciting applications. While Morales developed the first system for IOTA, it’s not a new market, it’s a competitive one. The function of micro payments are also covered by many other cryptocurrencies. In this regard, it remains to be seen how IOTA can establish itself in this market.
The core business of IOTA will certainly remain the industry, especially the machine-to-machine (M2M) sector, as well as smart cities. In recent weeks, IOTA has announced various projects such as +CityxChange and Alvarium with Dell and Linux, as well as partnerships with industry giants such as Jaguar, FIWARE and Zühlke.
The IOTA price is following the market trend and, after a sharp decline in recent days, has recovered by +5.6%.
