BIOTA has been registered in Germany a few weeks ago as an association, which is mainly known for its work on the Deposy project. BIOTA e.V. will award a certificate, that will be issued on IOTA’s tangle, to all companies and private persons who support the project through a sustaining membership. This is to promote environmental and climate protection and to support the awareness for sustainability.

BIOTA wants to advance environmental and climate protection by promoting applications in the field of new technologies. This includes the development of prototypes and technologies that create a rethinking in people’s consciousness and, in addition, free nature from waste and keep it away. The current main project of the association is the development of Deposy.
The programmers of the Deposy project have developed a reward system that is intended to create a monetary incentive for separating waste. In this system, products are provided with a special QR code, which stores further product information such as the CO2 footprint and other properties on the tangle. On top of the normal deposit, an additional small amount is added, which is credited to the person who delivers the waste.
This additional small obulus is paid out in MIOTA and can be sent directly to an IOTA wallet. Through other cooperation partners it is also possible to transfer the amount in Fiat currency to a bank account. Recently BIOTA achieved a breakthrough in the area of scalability, which is extremely important for the project.
Just one ton of plastic waste, calculated at 50 grams per package, results in 20,0000 packages, which must be equipped with a unique ID. With several million tons of waste, a large scalability is therefore required. Deposy has developed the Non Transactiontime Algorithm (NTA) as a solution to this problem. By using the NTA any number of product IDs can be generated:
No further seeds are required. The big step forward is that the orders can be processed rapidly. This way huge amounts of Deposy Product ID’s can be generated in a very short time. This is necessary to successfully implement the Product ID in the Deposy project on an industrial scale.
The first stress tests ran satisfactorily, so that the presented development is ready for use on an industrial scale. A first usable prototype should be presented by the end of 2020. Furthermore, an artificial intelligence for QR code recognition and an API for the exchange of information with participating actors is to be developed.
IOTA price explodes
Within the last 24 hours MIOTA’s price has risen by 13.48% to a price of $0.2090. With a market capitalization of almost $584 million, IOTA ranks 24th among the largest cryptocurrencies worldwide.
