  • The Stellar Development Foundation has announced an XLM reward program for individuals who build DApps with Soroban.
  • However, the individuals must have a minimum age of 18 years, and must not be in a jurisdiction where crypto holding or transfer is illegal.

The Stellar Development Foundation has announced that it is awarding people who build Decentralized Applications with Soroban on the Stellar network. According to the report, this is part of the Stellar Development Foundation’s $100M Soroban Adoption Fund and a “precursor to Sorobanathon: Road to Mainnet.” The built DApps are required to be accompanied by explanatory content such as written tutorials, etc.

The goal of this program is to provide the structure for application developers to build with Soroban and provide the educational materials for other devs to get up and running quickly on the platform as we approach Mainnet launch. We’re looking for any type of dApp — from basic cryptographic games to NFT projects. Have some fun with it!

Developers would be able to get between $300 and $1,500 worth of XLM for each qualified submission created. The announcement clarifies that all submissions would be reviewed by the Stellar Development Foundation as they come in.

Soroban is still in preview release and is live on Futurenet, a shared test network. You may encounter some problems as you are using the platform and various tools. We encourage you to report any problems or bugs you find in our Stellar Developer Discord under the #soroban channels.

More Details on the XLM Awards Program

Submissions are required to be coherent and easy to follow. Tutorials for instance should be able to be followed by users, and codes must have a clear explanation of what it does. All contents and contract codes are also expected to be made public. Awards would be based on the “scope, complexity, and quality of the submission.”

Contract (dApp) codes would get $300 worth of XLM. Submissions that include “documented code, a decent README detailing how to build a dApp on Soroban, and a live interactive demo site” would have an add of $150 worth of XLM. Submissions that include “tutorial on building a dApp with Soroban published on dev.to or Medium” would have add on the $250 cost of XLM, and submission that includes “public video tutorial on building a dApp with Soroban on YouTube” would have add on $800 value of XLM. Submissions that contain all components could get $1,500.

The announcement also mentions some eligibility of individuals who would be considered for the XLM awards. Firstly, the individual must have a minimum age of 18 years. The individual must also not be on the “U.S. Department of Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) Specially Designated Nationals and Blocked Persons List.” The person must not be a resident of any country, state, province, or territory under the “comprehensive OFAC sanctions”.

Finally, the person must not reside in a jurisdiction where the holding or transfer of cryptocurrency is illegal.

SDF reserves the right, in its absolute discretion, to disqualify any participant or submission, without warning, from Sorobounty Spectacular, and to ban them from future programs funded by the Soroban Adoption Fund if they act in a way that violates these guidelines, is inappropriately, or not in the best interests or spirit of the program.
