The EDAG Group’s latest video presentation of CityBot demonstrates not just the future of transportation, but the future of seamlessly integrated and automated logistics. Within this futuristic vision, the CityBot navigates an automated warehouse flawlessly, performing tasks like locating items, transport, loading, and cargo sorting.

What sets CityBot apart isn’t merely its transport capabilities. Its integration into a single full-service software platform enables it to track items in real-time. This multi-functional robot, operational round-the-clock, can also intelligently select tools, collaborating with various units to ensure optimal efficiency. The EDAG Group envisions CityBot ensuring “barrier-free material flows from 2025 onwards – autonomously, without emissions, on time, with real-time tracking and 24/7/365 availability” in high automation spaces like warehouses.

Behind CityBot’s sophisticated operations is IOTA, a data communication and payment protocol. By leveraging IOTA, services get listed on an enabled marketplace and, post-execution, they’re billed and settled through machine-to-machine or machine-to-infrastructure payments.

IOTA: Pioneering Mobility’s Future

The vision shared is broader than a single video or even a single robot. CityBot’s potential in redefining urban operations was also showcased at SafetyWeek 2020 in Würzburg, Germany. The EDAG Group revealed that the modular design of CityBot allows it to be configured for a range of applications: from passenger transport and cargo handling to city cleaning and park maintenance.

Key partnerships have also been forged to ensure CityBot’s efficiency. Notably, the EDAG Group has joined forces with Goodyear, ensuring the autonomous vehicle’s tires remain consistently connected to the CityBot ecosystem software. This ensures real-time monitoring of tire conditions, optimizing performance and minimizing costs.

While the EDAG Group has been pioneering mobility solutions, its collaboration with IOTA, initiated in 2019, signifies a deeper foray into integrating blockchain technology.
