- EOS Network Foundation just hit mega partnerships with Aerial and Upland in its sustainability drive.
- The linkup is set to boost EOS Network’s effort to become net climate positive.
The EOS Network Foundation (ENF), Upland, and Aerial have joined forces to transition the EOS Network from being the world’s first carbon-neutral blockchain to a climate-positive blockchain network.
This is another milestone for the EOS network in its quest to enhance sustainability. For the EOS Network, this is already five years of standing tall as the world’s first carbon-neutral blockchain and the latest development confirms that it is time to expand the goal.
Speaking on the launch of the climate-positive blockchain network, Yves La Rose, Founder and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the EOS Network Foundation confirmed that the protocol is taking its sustainability efforts one step further.
Furthermore, La Rose explained how the achievement goes beyond the protocol’s initial sustainability goals for carbon neutrality. Precisely, it offset more than 3x the carbon footprint of the EOS Network. La Rose added.
This reinforces our steadfast commitment to environmental sustainability and our ambition to create real-world value through blockchain technology.
Ordinarily, the EOS Network is one of the environmentally friendly blockchains that has an architectural design targeted at offering low power consumption and at the same time, delivering record-breaking scalability and throughput that combines the effectiveness of immutable, decentralized systems with environmental responsibility. On an annual basis, the network boasts of a carbon footprint of only 242 tonnes in CO2 emissions.
The collaboration with leading sustainability platforms Aerial and Upland, a metaverse superapp mapped to the real world that simulates several aspects of life and economy, demonstrates that EOS recognizes the part that carbon offsetting plays in controlling the impact that blockchain technology has on the environment.
EOS Network Foundation Partners Applauds Climate Positivity Initiative
Danny Brown-Wolf, Upland’s Chief of Staff expressed the firm’s excitement about bagging such a ground-breaking partnership that is geared towards climate positivity with EOS Network.
Since its inception, Upland has channelled its operations toward achieving environmental sustainability. Moreso, it has been EOS’s carbon offset sponsor since 2021 although its effort goes beyond blockchain infrastructure as it extends to offsetting its carbon footprint for the cloud services that help power the Upland metaverse.
Aerial’s involvement in the ground-breaking initiative is specifically geared toward reducing carbon emissions to achieve the ultimate goal of carbon positivity. Andreas Homer, CEO of Aerial regards it as an honor to be brought onboard this collaboration that marks a major milestone for the sustainability goals of the blockchain ecosystem.
The EOS Network is positive that its latest achievement will inspire others in the industry and push them to embrace climate-positive strategies.
Similar to the sustainability goal of EOS Network, VeChain has been investing resources to promote carbon neutrality. In June, the VeChainThor public blockchain collaborated with CIRCUNOW and together they reached an agreement to develop a carbon reduction disclosure platform with a focus on promoting sustainable materials and a carbon-neutral economy.
Also, VeChain’s partnership with supply chain management company BCW Global was designed to drive global expansion and sustainability initiatives and promote transparency, traceability, and environmental responsibility in supply chains via blockchain technology.
