  • EOS Network Foundation announces a partnership agreement with Aerial and Upland to strategically reduce its carbon emissions and transition to a climate-positive blockchain.
  • According to the press release, the collaboration is also meant to inspire other blockchains to consider climate-positive strategies.

The non-profit organization behind the EOS network, EOS Network Foundation (ENF), has announced a strategic partnership agreement with Upland and Aerial. Upland is a metaverse super application, and Aerial is a sustainability platform. The motive behind this collaboration is to enable EOS to become a climate-positive blockchain network from being a carbon-neutral blockchain.

On top of this, the partnership is meant to inspire other blockchains to prioritize climate-positive strategies to create a sustainable digital economy.

Danny Brown-Wolf, Chief of Staff of Upland expressed his excitement in collaborating with EOS for this Initiative.

We are excited to collaborate with the EOS Network Foundation in this groundbreaking initiative to achieve climate positivity. Upland has been committed to environmental sustainability since the day we started. We’re proud to help EOS become a climate-positive blockchain network.

EOS network was designed to deliver on scalability and throughput while consuming less power. It has an annual carbon footprint of 242 tonnes of carbon dioxide, making it one of the most environmentally friendly blockchains in the world. Upland has worked closely with EOS since 2021 by operating as a carbon offset sponsor for the network. Its recent development shows that it is now working beyond the blockchain ecosystem as it offsets the carbon footprint of the cloud services to power its metaverse.

Aerial, on the other hand, is known for its collaborations with verified environmental efforts to ensure that sustainability is achieved across the globe. Its role in this partnership is to reduce the carbon emissions of EOS. Andreas Homer, CEO of Aerial believes that this partnership would lead to a significant positive change.

Partnering with the EOS Network Foundation and Upland in this climate-positive initiative is an important milestone in the sustainability journey of the blockchain industry. We are honored to collaborate with such forward-thinking organizations that are dedicated to environmental responsibility and making significant positive changes.

More on the EOS Network Partnership

EOS has through its community programs, stakeholder engagements, and ecosystem funding made huge progress in transforming the Web3 ecosystem.

Yves La Rose, Founder and CEO of the ENF commented on the partnership:

As EOS celebrates 5 years since becoming the world’s first carbon-neutral blockchain, we are thrilled to take our sustainability efforts one step further by going climate-positive. This remarkable achievement goes well beyond our initial sustainability goals for carbon neutrality by offsetting more than 3x the carbon footprint of the EOS Network.

EOS recently announced a partnership agreement with digital asset market maker and investment firm DWF Labs. DWF reportedly bolstered the network with a $45 million EOS token purchase agreement and a pledge of $15 million to invest in businesses and projects on the network.

Investors have reacted marginally to the ongoing collaboration as market sentiment currently remains neutral. The asset has made a 1.2 percent surge in the last 24 hours to trade at $0.575751. However, investors’ gain on the asset has been negative in the last seven days. On top of that, the asset is 97 percent down from its all-time high price of $22.71.
