According to former employees’ social media posts and a report from The Information, Twitter has laid off at least 50 more employees.

Even Esther Crawford, the CEO of Twitter payments who was responsible for Twitter Blue verification subscription, was not spared. Many speculate that this move is part of Elon Musk’s plans to establish a new regime.

Crawford had been part of Musk’s hardcore takeover of Twitter last year, even bragging about sleeping at the office to handle demands from her new boss.

The layoffs occurred after Twitter employees discovered they could not access Slack, leading to confusion and panic throughout the company.

The Platformer reported that someone at Twitter manually shut off access, but the reason for the shutdown is still unknown. Twitter has not yet released a statement on the layoffs, but the report notes that Twitter initiated the round of layoffs by letting go of its ad sales staff on February 17.

Since Musk took over Twitter in October last year, the company’s workforce has decreased by more than 70%. This latest round of layoffs is also contradictory to Musk’s previous promise that there would be no further layoffs. Despite this, Musk has not responded to requests for comments on the matter.
