  • Crypto.com has announced a new partnership with the LeBron James Family Foundation to offer students skills and opportunities in the world of Web3.
  • Lebron praised blockchain technology saying it’s revolutionizing the economy, sports, entertainment and more, and said he wants his community to be part of the revolution.

Crypto.com, the exchange that has become synonymous with big crypto-sports partnerships, is adding yet another superstar athlete to its list of partnerships. This time, it’s Lebron James, the basketball legend who plays for the Los Angeles Lakers. The exchange partnered with his foundation to offer students skills and opportunities in the bold new world of Web 3.0.

In its announcement, Crypto.com revealed it had partnered with the LeBron James Family Foundation (LJF) on the initiative.

“Together, we’re increasing educational and workforce development while delivering the tools and access that will empower the next generation to build a better and more inclusive future,” the announcement on Twitter stated.

In an accompanying blog post, the exchange revealed that the partnership will focus on “educational and workforce development opportunities focused on Web3.” The two organizations will give students access to tools and resources that they need to participate in building Web 3.0.

Web 3.0, or Web3, is the third iteration of the Internet in which the focus will be on decentralization and allowing users to own their data. Blockchain technology is at the heart of this revolution which will incorporate cryptocurrencies, the metaverse, NFTs, and more.

In his comments on the partnership, Lebron stated:

Blockchain technology is revolutionizing our economy, sports and entertainment, the art world, and how we engage with one another. I want to ensure that communities like the one I come from are not left behind.

He further claimed that the partnership comes from an alignment of goals between him and the exchange.
