- Base, an Ethereum layer 2 network, is set to upgrade its gas target to 10 million gas units per second.
- The current target of 10MGas/second represents a noble 10% of the initial target of 1Ggas/second.
Base, an Ethereum layer 2 network, today, is set to undergo a major development leap following an upgrade aimed at bolstering its performance whilst attracting more developers. The network announced plans to increase its gas target to 10 Mgas/second following the success of a previous milestone set last week.
Base Set to Raise Gas Target to Double Digits
Coinbase will mark a new milestone by raising its gas target. This is significant as it raises its gas target by double digits. Jesse Pollak, shared the good tidings via X (formerly Twitter), asserting that Base would be taking the note up a notch by increasing the gas target to 10 million gas units per second (MGas/s). The 10MGas/second represents a noble 10% of the original target of 1Ggas/second.
This announcement has been met with great enthusiasm from the cryptocurrency community, as developers anticipate enhanced efficiency and performance on the network. According to Pollak, this new target comes on the heels of a previously achieved target of 9.375 MGas/s. Last week, the Base network celebrated a significant milestone when the Base network successfully raised the gas target from 8.75 MGas/s to 9.375 MGas/s.
Tomorrow (July 30th) is a big day on @base. Following last week’s successful gas target increase from 8.75 MGas/s to 9.375 MGas/s, tomorrow it will be notably increased even further to 10 MGas/s, marking entry into the realm of double-digit MGas/s on Base, near the first anniversary of its launch. Pollak announced
Base Network Sees Rise in TPS
Base’s continued improvements have resulted in a rise in Transactions per second. Pollak Mentioned that “yesterday was @base’s first day with >50 TPS” indicating significant development within the ecosystem in handling more transactions efficiently.
Dubbing this significant milestone as “The Exodus Upgrade” Base’s ecosystem aims at fostering a developer-friendly habitat while at the same time cultivating more innovation.
In light of the upgrade, the platform will get to experience increased transactions per block, which can lead to lower transaction fees and faster confirmation times. This is expected to attract more developers to build on Base, leveraging its enhanced capabilities.
According to Pollak, to ensure a smooth transition and seamless performance, Node operators have to tick Bases’s checklist. The guidelines emphasize the importance of monitoring CPU and Disk I/O, upgrading to NVMe SSDs for better throughput, and enhancing CPU performance with a focus on single-core speed.
Alongside tomorrow’s increase, for most builders and users, no action is needed, but if you’re running a Base Node, ensure you’re ready for more increased activity from people using Base,
Since its launch by the U.S. based crypto exchange, Base has become a big player in the blockchain sector and continues to hold great potential.
