- The company behind Klaytn, a project of Korean internet giant Kakao, has partnered with Chainlink to incorporate its decentralized oracle services.
- Klaytn’s smart contracts will be able to securely access off-chain data via Chainlink and use it to create applications.
In a press release, Chainlink has announced its partnership with the blockchain Klaytn, a project of Korean internet giant Kakao. The partnership will allow Klaytn to integrate Chainlink’s decentralized oracle service into its blockchain. In this way, Klaytn will be able to access data providers, web APIs, Internet of Things devices, among others.
Klaytn, as the release states, is a public blockchain developed by the company Ground X, affiliated to Kakao. Klaytn is a service-oriented blockchain platform that provides an intuitive development environment and seeks to offer a comfortable experience for the end user. Klaytn’s platform is also focused on the development of large scale applications that do not require much expertise in blockchain or cryptocurrencies.
Chainlink and Klaytn accelerate mass adoption
According to the press release, the integration of Chainlink into Klaytn’s blockchain will allow applications to be created that are connected to real-world data and systems that are off-chain. The partnership further enables Klaytn to expand into decentralized finance (DeFi) and become a potential competitor to Ethereum, regarding non-fungible tokens, among other sectors.
The Group Platform Manager at Ground X, Sangmin Seo, was pleased about the possibilities of the partnership for Klaytn and stated:
Chainlink can provide Klaytn with a secure oracle framework for building blockchain applications that interoperate with traditional infrastructure, increasing our capacity to develop more advanced products across a more diverse set of markets.
On the other hand, Chainlink co-founder Sergey Nazarov, expressed enthusiasm about the announcement. Nazarov said:
We look forward to providing the Klaytn ecosystem with secure and reliable oracles to enable the development of next-generation decentralized applications. Klaytn can accelerate towards its goal of blockchain mass adoption with the addition of real-world connectivity made possible by Chainlink oracles.
As reported by CNF, Klaytn has not been the only blockchain project to announce a cooperation with Chainlink in recent days. The SmartPy and Cryptonomic development teams also added Chainlink’s oracle services for the Tezos ecosystem. That way, developers will be able to access key resources off-chain and deploy them to their Tezos on-chain applications.
