- IOHK has published an update on the exchanges that have already completed the integration of Cardano’s Shelley.
- Yoroi has released an important update for the Google Chrome extension yesterday, which now allows the delegation of ADA.
After the successful implementation of the Shelley hard fork on mainnet on Wednesday, July 29, 2020, at 21:44:51 UTC, the Cardano network is still in a transition phase. The staking rewards will be distributed to ADA holders for the first time next Tuesday, August 18th. In addition, several exchanges and wallets are still in the implementation phase for Shelley.
As IOHK has now announced in an update, IOHK is currently continuing its close cooperation with its exchange partners to support them in implementing the Shelley upgrade. However, each exchange is different and follows its own integration processes and timelines.
IOHK also reiterated that during the transition process, all ADA are completely safe and unaffected, whether they are in a local wallet (e.g. Daedalus, Yoroi, Ledger, Trezor, etc.) or on an exchange. The ADA are securely stored on the blockchain itself. Due to the update, however, there may be certain restrictions on exchanges:
However, we do anticipate some exchange downtime/service interruption with some exchanges, as they complete their integration work. ada holders keeping their funds on an exchange will be able to continue to be able to trade during this period, they may encounter issues making withdrawals and deposits temporarily during the time their exchange is updating.
At the time of writing, the following exchanges have already completed the integration of Shelley:
- Bithumb
- Coinfalcon
- CROSS
- Bitfinex
- CoinEx
- HBTC
- Bidesk
- BKEX
- EXMO
- ChangeNow
According to the announcement by IOHK, the following exchanges are still working on the integration of Shelley:
Cardano (ADA) staking: Yoroi releases major update
It is important to note that support for Shelley is not the same as support for staking ADA. The exchanges are not obliged to perform the staking and subsequently distribute the rewards.
On the wallet side, both the Daedalus wallet and the Yoroi offer staking. For the Chrome extension of Yoroi has received a major new version yesterday, which now supports the delegation of the ADA with a 15-word, 24-word key and via a Trezor hardware wallet. Support for Ledger hardware wallets and redeeming ITN rewards will be released with one of the next versions.
The extension should automatically update to 3.1.1. In some cases it may take a day or two for Chrome to perform the automatic update, as the developers explained. However, Chrome can be manually forced to do the updates.

However, the best option for ADA staking remains the Daedalus wallet from IOHK. Already last Saturday the development company behind Cardano released Daedalus version 2.1.0, which allows the rewards of the Shelley Incentivized Testnet (ITN) to be transferred to the mainnet. In addition, any other wallet can be restored using the restore function.
If you took part in the Incentivized testnet (ITN) your ADA rewards are now available to redeem. Download Daedalus 2.1.0 from the official Daedalus site, wait for it to sync then follow the steps here. And get delegating your #ADA stake to one of 800+ pools now on #Cardano! pic.twitter.com/MHqKDzCfwO
