  • Binance exchange has renewed its commitment to improving women’s participation in Web3.0.
  • The exchange wants to level the playing field for women in Web3.0.

Binance exchange has announced plans to increase its role in the Web3.0 ecosystem with respect to bolstering the participation of women in the industry. According to a Press Release shared with Crypto-News Flash, the trading platform, dubbed as the largest in the world, said it will be increasing its funding over the coming year in a bid to increase the education of women in the crypto ecosystem.

It is not uncommon for established crypto trading firms to inject cash into social initiatives as a way to give back to the community. With International Women’s Day just around the corner, Binance is showcasing its direct interest in getting the industry to be a level playing field for women and the most vulnerable members of society.

Binance said it will double down on the more than $2 million funding it has committed to women’s education thus far. This funding has been quite strategic and largely diversified as it is being used to educate beneficiaries in more than 10 countries. Specifically, Binance’s educational push has been enjoyed by beneficiaries in Nigeria, Australia, Ukraine, Kenya, Brazil, France, South Africa, and Germany amongst others.

Binance to Bolster Female Representation in Crypto

By a large mile, the digital currency ecosystem is best considered a male-dominated world. Only about 37% of crypto owners are women and less than 5% of crypto founders are women. For a better appreciation of the disparity in female representation, in more than 10,000 companies around today, those owned or founded by women come in at just 292.

Binance is different and is the best advocate for women to gain more visible participation in the crypto ecosystem. The firm was co-founded by He Yi, one of the very few crypto trading platforms to have such diversity in the composition of its top management.

“As one of the few female leaders in the industry, I believe that we have a mission, through Binance Charity and Binance Academy, to help more women understand web3 and blockchain technology — our education and internship programs aim to empower young women with knowledge and skills ready for industry disruption,” said He Yi, Binance co-founder, and chief marketing officer. “We believe that anyone with ideas can change the world, regardless of gender. We hope these commitments will result in more women on the front line of innovation and bring change to our industry.”

The Binance commitment is not a one-off affair, as the firm is charting education as part of its strategies to help foster diversity in the Web3.0 ecosystem in general.

Ahead of International Women’s Day, Binance said it will support Georgia’s Innovation & Technology Agency (GITA) with the sum of $100,000 to support web3 education and training for women. Binance Academy will be more proactive in the scheme by providing educational content for GITA web3 courses.

As an added incentive for all, the exchange said it will be waiving application fees for everyone in the month of March through the waiver code IWD2023.
